Github pages themes1/17/2024 ![]() The first step in installing a theme is to not install the theme :D, to begin, make a backup of your content (Posts, Pages, text you have written already if you have any) to somewhere safe. This is not a bad thing, it is just that there are sooo many ways to style and configure Jekyll functions. Now here is the rub, most themes need to effectively “take over” your GitHub pages repo in order to function, it is just the nature of how themes work with Jekyll. There may be a bit of trial and error involved when selecting a theme that does not advertise being GitHub pages compatible. The main thing to be aware of when browsing themes is that not all are 100% supported to run on GitHub pages. There are a few places from which to get themes for your GitHub pages site, namely: Site Easier of the theme already does what you want. It is still possible to extend the site beyond the theme yourself, but it takes a lot more care and knowledge to implement. ![]()
